Spotify Countdown Pages: How to Hype Up Your Next Release
September 9, 2025
Releasing new music on Spotify is no longer just about the big day itself. It’s about building momentum and hype in the weeks - or even months - leading up to it.

If you want to drive exciting buzz and maximise your stream count from the moment your track goes live, you need to be looking at Spotify Countdown Pages

What is a Spotify Countdown Page?

Spotify Countdown Pages are dedicated landing pages on Spotify that appear directly on your artist profile.

Designed to build anticipation for your upcoming releases and featuring a real-time countdown clock, Countdown Pages give your fans a clear reminder of when your new music will be released on Spotify.

Fans who land on your Countdown Page can easily:

- Pre-save your release so it’s automatically added to their library on release day
- Preview exclusive content
such as video clips or behind-the-scenes footage (if provided)
- Set notifications
to make sure they don’t miss the moment your track drops

Why are Spotify Countdown Pages important?

For independent and major artists alike, Countdown Pages can significantly boost the performance of your new release - with Countdown Pages boosting pre-saves by around 6 times according to the Spotify team.

When fans pre-save your music, those streams are ready to go the second your track is released. This early traction is vital for triggering Spotify’s algorithm and increasing your chances of landing on editorial and algorithmic playlists.

Countdown Pages help generate even more excitement around your new release, making it easier for fans to engage with your release in one place and view all the required info they need to know.

By giving your fans access to unique content like Countdown Pages it makes them feel more involved and part of the journey, which in turn makes it more likely for them to share your content and boost engagement.

How to Get a Spotify Countdown Page

As things stand, Countdown Pages are only available to artists with at least 5,000 active listeners within the past 28 days.

If you’re not sure how many active listeners you have, you can check by following these steps:

- Log in at artists.spotify.com.
- Go to the Audience tab, then select Segments.
- Click Active audience to see your active listener count.

Heads-up, make sure you’re looking at active listeners, not overall monthly listeners. There is a difference.

Your upcoming release will also need to meet Spotify’s required criteria:

- Only new and original albums or EPs are eligible.
- Singles, re-releases (including deluxe or anniversary editions, reissues or remasters), or compilations are not eligible, even if they contain new or altered material.
- Your label or distributor needs to deliver your release through DDEX (this is standard procedure).

Another thing to consider is if multiple main artists are listed, only the first-named main artist can create a Countdown Page and the page will only appear on that artist’s profile.

At this time, Countdown Pages support only a limited number of split rights releases. Broader support is planned for the future.

Currently, Countdown Pages are available to artists with a Spotify for Artists account and upcoming releases distributed through Spotify. Follow the steps laid out here to claim your Spotify for Artists account.

Once set up, your listeners will be able to easily find your Countdown Pages in places across Spotify, such as Your Artist profile, The Now Playing view, The Search bar, Your Upcoming Releases hub and Their Home section.

Your Countdown Page will be pinned at the top of your Spotify profile, so there’s no chance of fans missing it.

How to use your Spotify Countdown Pages

To get the most out of your Spotify Countdown Page, make sure you’re sharing the link on your socials, mailing list, and band website to funnel fans directly to Spotify.

Top tip: Pair your Countdown Page with social teasers, short-form video content, and email blasts to keep momentum rolling long after release day.

If possible, include video teasers, behind-the-scenes clips, or messages to fans.

We also recommend launching your Countdown Page at least 1–2 weeks before your release. This’ll really help drive exposure, and you can plan out a music marketing strategy to remind your fans in the days leading up to release, building further urgency and excitement.

Spotify Countdown Pages give both new and established artists a chance to supercharge their release campaigns, turning passive listeners into engaged fans and making release day feel like an event.

Whether you’re dropping a new single or a full album, this tool can help ensure that all eyes (and ears) are on you when the timer hits zero.
